18 km from Bidar, the former Bahmani capital, lies a stretch of land where the endangered blackbuck roams free. The Blackbuck Resort is nestled cozily next to the Vilaspur Lake, close to the Honnikeri Reserve Forest. Just when you begin to adjust to the unforgiving beauty of the surroundings, the silence, as if on cue, is broken by the chorus of birds. Reminding us, that even the somber does smile.

The unbroken landscape startles you with its deception. The Honnikeri Reserve Forest is an expanse of calm and serenity. Your cottage stands right at the lake’s shore, offering the best seats in the house for the spectacular shows nature puts up here. Early mornings and late evenings are spent following the blackbuck. A nature walk gives you plenty of opportunity to spot birds, especially the rather bold peacock. During the day, explore the city of Bidar where the relics of the Bahmani Dynasty open a chapter in history. A mix of Persian, Turkish and Hindu architectural styles testify to the various cultural influences this erstwhile capital city has witnessed. A heritage jewel box, Bidar sits like a rather ornate brooch on the heart of the Deccan Plateau. At night, after a wonderful meal, spend some time making wishes upon stars and then retire with the lullaby of the wind in your ears.

Season

Between October and February is ideally the best time to visit. The weather is mild and the surroundings are painted in shades of green. The summer months from March to mid June are dry and sultry during the day and cool and pleasant at night. During July, August and September, the monsoons offer a different experience of the place altogether.

All request for cancellation of confirmed booking have to be received through email (Used while booking) or in writing if booked at our office in Bangalore.

10% of the booking amount, if cancelled 15 Days before check in date/time.

50% of the booking amount, if cancelled between 48hours to 14 Days before check in date/time.

No refund for no show & if cancelled less than 48hours before check in date/time.

Post/Preponement Policy:

Postponement / Preponement is free if requested 15 Days before check in date/time (Once postponed /preponed there is no further change or cancellation).

20% of the booking amount, if requested between 7 Days to 14 Days before check in date/time.

50% of the booking amount, if requested within 24hours to 7 Days before check in date/time.

No modification, if requested within 24 hours to check in.

Travel Tips

Dress for comfort. Do avoid bright colours and stick to muted shades of green, black, grey and brown. The more you meld with the background, the better.
Wear comfortable walking shoes.
Avoid smoking – anything can start a forest fire.
You’ll be spending a lot of time outdoors. Don’t forget your hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, torch, etc.

Symphony in B Minor – Bidar

Indian cinema tells us that royalty is about opulence and grandeur, with flowers and pearls strewn on the paths of kings. There is always someone to fan the king, to sing him a melody or entertain him with a dance. Bidar, the crown of Karnataka, is one such place where you can experience what it is to be a king or a queen.

Having spent my childhood in Hyderabad, Bidar was a familiar place. The engineering colleges, the gurudwara, the fort – these would find a place in conversations often. But somehow, I never got a chance to visit the place until earlier this year, when I joined a friend who was driving to Bidar for a day from Hyderabad. I’d heard so much about the grassland birding and the blackbucks and I couldn’t let go of the opportunity.
