Belagavi Nature Camp, the newest property of JLR is located around 18 km from Belagavi city along the Pune-Belagavi highway (NH 4). The place is popularly known as Chigarimalla due to presence of deers earlier.
The tourists can experience an ideal stay in the lap of nature along with host of activities and options to visit nearby places. 7 cottages built using locally available laterite rocks offer a comfortable stay with all the basic amenities. The buffet is simple yet tasty. It is prepared and served at our camp as part of package, giving utmost importance to hygiene. Don’t forget to taste “Kunda” the popular local delicacy.
Nature walks and birdwatching is the best way to spend the early morning while at Chagarimalla. The walk can also be an opportunity to learn about the local flora, fauna, people and the culture of the region. The whole experience can be rejuvenating. A wide variety of birds are seen around the camp. Flycatchers, flowerpeckers, sunbirds, leafbirds, cuckoos, peafowl and many more are commonly seen. You can also visit nearby Rani Chennamma Zoo to see the animals at close quarters. A long walk inside the Rani Chenamma University campus all the way to view point is a memorable experience. A visit to the forest department nursery adjoining our camp can be educating too.
Belagavi city which is hardly 18 kms from the camp is known for its rich history, culture and heritage. There are lot of historical temples, mosques, churches, basadis which you can explore. The city is also is the headquarters of well known military wing of Indian army ” Maratha Light Infantry Regiment” since 1922. During monsoon a visit to the famed Gokak falls is a must. This cascade of river Ghataprabha is at a distance of 35 kms from our camp. Also a hike to Godachinamalki falls for those who are adventurous is recommended.
Belagavi has an airport and is easily accessible by road and rail too.
